Be The Change

Anastasia, her mother Valentyna, and her sister Valeriya have been an inseparable trio since they left Ukraine two decades ago to support Valentyna’s nursing career. Their journey from Ukraine to the United States was not just a move but a testament to resilience, courage, and a shared sense of purpose.

As Valentyna built a remarkable nursing career while supporting her daughters, Anastasia embarked on a distinguished military career just two years after receiving her green card. Her service took her to multiple duty stations, two overseas assignments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and earned her a Master’s Degree, culminating in a distinguished 20-year career.

Settled in the Bay Area, Valentyna finally enjoyed her well-deserved retirement from the medical field. But her deep-seated sense of duty called her back to action in early 2022, leading her to the front lines of relief in Ukraine as conflict ravaged the region.

While Valentyna worked tirelessly to deliver essential supplies and establish crucial supply routes in Ukraine, Anastasia joined her in the relief efforts, temporarily leaving the U.S. to assist in evacuating her extended family from the turmoil.

Returning to the U.S., inspired by their own struggles and driven by a profound commitment to their homeland, the mother-daughter duo launched This Crafty Place. Their entrepreneurial spirit and natural artisan talents gave rise to a platform that combines their passions with their desire to give back.

Valentyna’s expertise in medicine and wellness led her to create soaps infused with healing elements. Anastasia, who has been crafting bespoke items since 2014 to support her studies, transforms vintage upcycled materials into unique wearable art pieces.

Launched in 2022, This Crafty Place is more than just a store—it’s a movement. Every purchase supports not only the artisans behind these creations but also the urgent relief efforts in Ukraine and the refugees rebuilding their lives in the U.S.

We invite you to explore our space, learn about our products and the people who make them, and join us in our mission to make a difference. Thank you for your support!
